It's all that you have to buy with it.....

When Gary and I had only been married a couple of years, we moved away from our families and to Grants Pass, Oregon.  Shortly after we moved there, I needed some feminine hygiene products and since I was afraid I wouldn't find our house again once i drove away, I asked him to pick some up for me.  When he returned I asked, "How much did it cost?" because we had heard that the cost of living in Grants Pass was significantly higher than in Junction City, where we had moved from.  "Seven dollars," was his reply.  In Junction City that would have cost four dollars, so I expressed my shock.  He said, "Well, it wasn't THAT that was so expensive, it was all the stuff I had to buy WITH it."

I wonder how many young husbands would have refused to even buy them for their wives?  I myself am embarrassed to buy them, and fought that my whole premenopausal life.  So I get it.  And i truly appreciated his act of courage and kindness for me.

And to this day, when I see a young man in a grocery store checkout line with feminine hygiene products, a fond smile comes over my face as I remember when Gary did this for me (and countless more times); and I understand the act of love that it is.
